Living with our ancestors

The Yawanawás live in the upper Rio Gregorio, in the state of Acre, Brazil.

They have an ancient culture and are guardians of this knowledge and wisdom to this day. Our host is the Txai Shaneihu Yawanawa, eldest son of Chief Bira, and invites men and women to experience their generational tradition and spiritual practices in a deep encounter with the Yawanawá forest and its ancestry.

In this 7-day itinerary we will experience the Yawanawá Culture in several traditional activities, such as:

  • Herbal bath
  • Body painting
  • Storytelling
  • Regional and traditional food
  • Classroom of traditional songs in Samaúna - the largest tree in the Amazon
  • Smoking with Sepa - sacred resin Yawanawá
  • Snuff wheels
  • Kampum (frog)
  • Ceremonies of Uni (Ayahuasca)

The retreats are an opportunity to get to know the Yawanawá culture in a deeper way, enabling an authentic experience through community living and the study of traditional medicines in contact with nature, the Amazon Forest preserved within indigenous land. Retreat participants also contribute to the development of the Yawarani village structure that prepares to receive its visitors ever better, with simplicity and organization.
