The Forest Retreat ("Retiro na Floresta") is a great immersion into the Acre Amazon with the Huni Kuin people (true people) with the proposal of making a great cultural exchange of knowledge.
During this 10-day retreat you will get to know a little bit about the day to day life of a village and at the same time will deepen and exchange knowledge with the residents of the village Ni Yushibu (Altamira).
Our first festival took place in 2013 and since then the village has been holding this sacred meeting annually in partnership with the city, seeking general improvements to the village. The funds raised are invested directly in projects such as - Water - Vagalume - Permaculture in the Villages - and in the Retiro na Floresta itself, which is in itself a complex project.
The leader and shaman of the community is called Txana Ixa and has been working with the medicines of the forest since he was 5 years old and today has great experience to share with everyone. Txana Ixa works in direct partnership with Hilas Khouri, who is a great friend of the village and also the general coordinator of the festival and the projects that take place in the village.
The first Retreat, in 2013, allowed the purchase of 2 motorized boats for the village, which has 173 residents and depends on this transportation.
In the second festival, the amount collected was invested in some houses as a hostel and in the sacred space for medicine and prayer.
After the second year, the Water Project was started, to store rainwater. Today, we also have a well.
In this third year (2019), the amount collected will be invested in the Permaculture Project, which will bring ecological solutions such as a natural bathroom, sewage treatment system, kitchen, etc.
