Posted onSlice of heaven: yoga, scuba, jungle, dolphins!Zen Resort truly is a special place! Off the beaten path and away from the traditional tourist areas and crowds in Ubud and in Seminyak, Zen Resort is a must visit, especially if you are interested in scuba! This was a wonderful place for a solo traveler and I met many other solo travelers as well (they set a table at each meal for all of the solo travelers to sit)!
I did the intro to scuba package for 4 days and absolutely loved my experience! Daily schedule was: sunrise meditation + yoga, breakfast, scuba all day, return for a massage or other treatment, sunset yoga, dinner, repeat. Oh and one day, insert a sunrise dolphin trip in there too!! The sunrises each morning were truly spectacular and I don’t think I will ever in my life be able to experience dolphins jumping with sunrise as a backdrop.
I thought the instructors at the dive center were wonderful - very attentive, great teachers, and I felt like I was in very safe hands. They were accommodating and flexible! I had an amazing first dive experience! Note that the intro to scuba does not mean you are getting a dive certification. You have to take the online course prior to arriving if you’d like to leave with certification.
The property at zen is just beautiful- it’s jungle meets beach. I loved lounging at the pool with a book just taking in the scenery. The grounds were filled with beautiful flowers and at night cute lanterns light your way.
The spa is incredibly beautiful on the outside and the treatments inside were great as well. If you book in a package, you are welcomed with a special welcome treatment including a spa and a bath full of flowers!
If you are looking to sight see and do day trips, this is likely not the location for you. Although it’s possible, you are better staying in the more tourist areas in the south or east. It is quite a drive to get back to main tourist area but absolutely worth the drive to stay here and zen out for a few days. The resort coordinates and includes transportation so there is now excuse not to make the trip - the drive is also beautiful through the mountains
